Radio Mast
The folded sheet steel mast shown has been developed by CU Lighting to comply with an NTL (National
Telecommunications Limited) specification for CTR (Channel Tunnel Radio) operating on 107.6MHz FM, beamed along the M20 motorway.

The masts are designed for heights up to 17 metres at 45m/sec. gust wind speed. Masts can be supplied to more stringent specifications with greater wind speeds/heights and aerial loads.

The mast is a tapered duodecagon (20 sided) section to give improved aerodynamic performance.

The mast has climbing steps for aerial maintenance. The feeders can be externally mounted or carried down the
mast internally supported by a catenary wire which is held in tension to prevent contact with the inner face of the mast. Access doors are fitted to the top and
bottom of the mast which are closed with tri-head, security locking mechanisms.

The feeders are usually taken out through the base and via a duct, to the control equipment.

Standard finish as supplied is Hot Dipped Galvanised to BS729.

The masts can be supplied as rooted or flanged. Holding down studs are supplied complete with template for casting-in by others. Ground level loads will be supplied to enable a foundation design to be carried out to suit local site conditions.
