Carefully integrated designs and innovative use of materials and technology embody our commitment to produce durable, strong, functional, attractive and comfortable furniture. Remaining current in the marketplace defines our daily efforts. This includes meeting the challenging designs and the welcome growth in acceptance of the need to protect the environment. We combine tested as well as unique materials and manufacturing techniques in new and exciting ways. We take time to solve difficult engineering problems. We listen to the invaluable suggestions, requirements and criticism of landscape architects, architects, designers, urban planners, engineers and customers throughout the world.

MANUFACTURING
Committed to operating our manufacturing process in a manner which, is modern, effective, responsible and environmentally sound.

Our manufacturing space includes computer-driven welding robots, state-of-the-art powder coating systems, recycled plastic slat extrusion, and automated metal and wood working equipment

Recycled Plastic Extrusion:
We extrude 100% of our recycled plastic slats. The primary raw material for all such products is recycled HDPE resin. We offer both standard recycled slats and our unique 2nd Sites Systems slats that combine recycled plastic with a reinforcing bar(also recycled) to make it “plug compatible” with our wood slats.

New Water Jet:
We have installed a new water jet cutting system which can, with the use of a highly concentrates stream of pure water and microscopic particles of stone, cut precisely through even the thickest steel plate to reproduce the pattern designated by a complex computer system. The result is a zero pollution process for precisely cutting steel parts formed to accuracies measured in tens of thousandths of an inch quickly and burr free. This state-of-the-art system expands our flexibility in a manner consistent with our lifelong commitment to using the best technology to bring the best street furniture to market at the lowest cost, in the most responsible manner.
Four Powder Coating Systems:
Our self-contained powder coating lines were designed and built to meet the complex requirement of applying a highly durable monolithic coating over complex assemblies and functions. This process includes steel shot blasting, thorough cleaning and surface preparation, and a final coating of nontoxic sealer that makes the subsequent powder coating dramatically more effective. The entire cleaning and powder-coating process utilises no toxic solvents.
Generators:
Our facilities have fully automatic large-scale backup generators. Each facility is capable of generating all of its own electricity indefinitely. The primary purpose of this enormous investment is to guarantee the ability to separate from the electric grid at times when the grid is strained to provide power to the general community. As a result, we are capable of making no demand on power suppliers when their systems are operating beyond their most effective levels. In addition to relieving the supply grid of these loads, it makes it possible to continue operating during brown-outs, black-outs, voltage fluctuations or storm induced stress.

Woodworking:
We inventory a huge supply of FSC certified Mahogany and Ipe to help guard against sever fluctuations in cost and availability. Our sophisticated, highly accurate, multi-axis computerised woodworking systems precision machine our wood and recycled plastic parts. We have three modern computerises CNC machines.

Steel Fabrication:
Victor Stanley purchases 100% of its steel bar material from electric furnace mills. At least 98% of the composition of this steel is obtained from recycled metal. Our complex fabrication equipment forms the steel bar into the necessary shapes to become product components.

Thirteen Welding Robots:
To ensure the integrity of their welds, most joints are electrically welded on precision fixtures by state-of-the-art robots that incorporate artificial intelligence welding techniques.
Finished welded assemblies are then stacked and ready to be shot blasted, etched, phosphatised, pre heated and electro statically powder coated.

3D CADD Technology:
State-of-the-art 3D CAD technology is used to design products as well as some of our complex manufacturing techniques. Sophisticated digital presentations are used to model products and prevent dimensional conflicts. At the request of our customers, we provide digital product specification drawings in DWG, DXF and PDF formats.

Materials and Options

Powder Coat:
We conduct all of our powder coating in-house through the use of four complete powder coating systems. This process includes steel shot blasting, thorough cleaning and surface preparation, and a coating of nontoxic sealer that makes the subsequent powder coating dramatically more effective. The entire process utilizes no toxic solvents and represents our ongoing commitment to applying modern and effective manufacturing processes in a responsible and environmentally sound manner.

Steel
100% of our steel bar material is from electric furnace mills. At least 98% of the mills’ steel composition is obtained from recycled scrap metal. Steel is our single largest raw material purchase. This material alone fulfils the recycle-content requirements generally applied.

Recycled Plastic Slats:
We extrude our own recycled plastic in-house. Our unique 2nd Site Systems material combines recycled plastic with a reinforcing bar to make it “Plug-compatible” with the best wood slats available. With moulded through colour and U-V resistance, our attractive and durable recycled slats shed water, resist rot and are easily cleaned. Incredibly strong and comfortable, our benches made with 2nd Site Systems slats resemble wood and come in maple, cherry, walnut and grey. 2nd Site Systems material is our creative solution to using recyclable resources and providing superb design choices.

Our Woods:

Our mahogany is a medium hardwood that ultimately weathers to a bright silver-grey patina.  It offers great beauty, longevity and superb weathering characteristics in virtually all climates and resists rot and insect infestation. The magnificent “boat builders” grade mahogany we use for our products comes with a factory applies coat of clear sealer to initially bring out the richness of the wood’s hues and highlights.
Ipe is a light brown hardwood. Often thought of as an alternative to teak, ipe is one of the strongest and hardest woods we have encountered. Weathering to a bright silver colour, this remarkable wood resists rot and insect infestation. Products made with ipe are far less vulnerable to vandalism and are superb for withstanding the normal wear and tear that public furnishings receive.
Side-door Hinges:
Composed of embedded precision stainless-steel pivot pins and oil-impregnated bronze brushings for reliable all-weather durability year after year.

Cast Ductile-Iron
Castings feature a 10 year warranty against breakage. The always reliable strength of our ductile iron provides the quality you expect from Victor Stanley.

Thick, Durable Finish:
Weather and wear create the need for a thick durable coating. Our powder coating is applies on in-house designed systems which use both manual and precisely guided automated application equipment to coat the fully pre-heated products. The pre-heating ensures dramatically increased flow characteristics for the coating and a much thicker coating film resulting in dramatically enhanced product life and appearance. Our coating averages 8-10 mils or 200-250 microns thick, which is 3 times the thickness generally found in our industry. Experts from some of the world’s largest companies have visited our factories to see our powder-coating systems.

Hot-Dip Galvanising:
Our TGIC powder-coating represents the highest level of quality. For projects exposed to corrosive environments (including but not limited to saltwater exposure or to sand where the wind creates a sandblasting effect), we offer hot dip galvanising as an option for most products prior to powder coating. When applying powder coating over galvanised surfaces, special surface preparations must be made and resulting finished surfaces may be less smooth than standard finishes. Contact us for more information.

Levelling Feet:
We include adjustable levelling feet at no extra cost to keep our receptacles level and off the ground. This prevents the bottom of each receptacle from scratching and allows for easier cleaning underneath the receptacle.

High-Strength Plastic Lids:
Our durable, easy to use, formed plastic lids (similar to car bumper components) are 75% recycled content, by weight. Tapered plastic lids are provided for our receptacles when receptacles are ordered in black, bronze, green or tavern square green.

Anchor Bolts:
Most of our receptacles require only one anchor bolt for quick and cost effective installation. We do not provide anchor bolts because soil and site conditions vary.

Custom Solutions:
In addition to a vast offering, Victor Stanley welcomes the opportunity to work on custom projects.

Capacity:

We offer 90, 136 and170 litre (24, 36 and 45 gallon) capacities for most of our receptacle designs.

High-Density Black Plastic Liners:
Our standard plastic receptacle liners are formed on custom moulds designed for us. Reinforced, ribbed and moulded for durability and ease of use. The primary raw material is recycled resin. Some other manufacturers opt to not include inner liners with their receptacles and others use sheet metal liners that are easily dented and frequently rust.

Galvanised Liners:
We offer optional 75 and 113 litre (20 and 30 gallon) galvanised steel liners as an alternative, when required, to our standard black plastic liners. Galvanised liners offer handles and can have an optional powder-coat finish.

IN-HOUSE MANUFACTURING:  Victor Stanley is the only street furniture manufacturer to our knowledge that performs all of the following processes in-house: powder coating, steel fabrication, robot welding, recycled plastic extrusion and woodworking. This is the best way to ensure that our products meet the highest quality standards.
