Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC)
CU Phosco Lighting have been awarded the Trustmark for the P86x range of LED Luminaires. Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), responsible for the development of quality infrastructure and raising awareness on quality in Abu Dhabi, has announced the launch of Trustmark for Environmental Performance – a new application of the Abu Dhabi Trustmark that certifies products for compliance to environmental and sustainability standards.

His Excellency Hussain Salem Al Katheeri, Secretary General, QCC, said: “In our role as a council of regulators and industry representatives, we consider it our core priority to offer conformity schemes and certifications that are aligned with the strategic objectives of the emirate. Through this strategy, it is our aim to sustain a certain level of product quality. The Abu Dhabi Trustmark for Environmental Performance indicates that certified products perform with certain environmental stewardship.”

A conformity scheme is a documented programme outlining the process of certification by the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council. The document outlines the method of acquiring certification, detailing the standards and equivalencies, application requirements, testing regime, as well as the certification process.

The Trustmark for Environmental Performance will help consumers identify products that meet the sustainability criteria. Consumers can make a choice between an environmentally sustainable product that meets quality standards and a product that does not comply with those standards.”

Products that achieve certification through testing against the environmental criteria of the QCC are granted the right to use the Trustmark for Environmental Performance in product packaging, promotion and merchandising. Currently, applying and gaining the certification is available for no charge.

The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council was established in 2009 to raise the quality of Abu Dhabi’s exports and products traded locally, while protecting the interest of the emirate’s consumers and supporting its competitive economy. This is achieved through enabling regulators to establish and implement product safety, legal metrology and conformity schemes. QCC also sets guidelines and benchmarks to identify and verify that the products manufactured and traded in the emirate conform to the highest quality standards.

SMART Safety Testing

SMART Safety

The King of The Road P860 LED luminaire has been independently tested by UL to confirm ENEC Certification to BS EN 60598 including vibration testing as a Rough Service Luminaire to IEC 60068-2-6: 2007.

In addition, we have completed endurance vibration testing to ANSI C136.31:2010 involving a sweep to find the resonant frequencies in each of the X, Y and Z-axes followed by sustained vibration at the worst resonant frequency for each axis for 100,000 cycles.

The same luminaire has therefore been tested for over 300,000 cycles of resonant vibration in total.
Cyber Essentials Accreditation
CU Phosco Lighting is proud to announce we have received Cyber Essentials accreditation.

Cyber Essentials is a government-backed cyber security standard that uses independent assessment to identify the IT security controls that an organisation needs to have in place to have confidence that they are addressing cyber security effectively and mitigating the risk from internet-borne threats.

CU Phosco Lighting on the Road to a Low Emissions Future
CU Phosco Lighting is proud to receive ‘Go Ultra Low Company’ status. The initiative recognises businesses that are embracing electric vehicles (EVs) as part of a new scheme run by government and automotive industry campaign, Go Ultra Low.

We have been awarded ‘Go Ultra Low Company’ status in recognition of how plug-in cars and vans form an increasingly important part of our fleet. The accolade also recognises our commitment to boosting their uptake over the next five years as part of our long-term transport strategy.

In future we aim to give as many employees as possible the chance to drive or own an electric vehicle, to boost our eco-credentials further and make a real difference to the environment by reducing CO2 emissions and improving air quality in our region. Not only can EVs promote cleaner motoring, there are also multiple short- and long-term financial benefits for us and our employees to enjoy.

Public and private sector organisations that already use EVs, or offer them to employees as company cars, are eligible for Go Ultra Low Company status, providing there’s a commitment for EVs to make up 5% of their vehicle fleet by 2020, which is in line with our aim of boosting our fleet EV numbers by around 300% over the next few years.

William Marques, Chairman at CU Phosco Lighting, said: "Electric Vehicles currently make up 28% of our fleet, we aim to increase this figure to 75% by 2020. Our EVs are charged on site using energy generated from the solar power system which is installed on the roofs of two of our factories."

Further information about ultra low emission vehicles, charge point locations, test-drive options and purchase incentives is available at www.goultralow.com.
